Harper's Ferry is a short drive from Washington D.C. and is at the intersection of the Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers. It is the perfect mixture between history and adventure. It's location is why it played an important role in history.
Fun fact: President George Washington established a Federal Armory in Harper's Ferry after once visiting the area during his days as a surveyor.
Although it may seem like a small, quaint town, Harper's Ferry is surprisingly busy. Especially, during the summer months. The town recently has had even more business than usual due to the hit show, "Hotel Hell" where chef Gordon Ramsey re-did the local business, "The Town's Inn & Bistro".
Harper's Ferry has everything you can think of: outdoor attractions, restaurants, hotels, etc. As I learned the difficult way, you'll need a whole weekend to visit everything that the town offers. It is not to be overlooked.
